This base measures 18" round and is made from various types of wood. The shown displayed base is made of of 3" wide pieces of maple, cherry, ash and the center wood is padouk which is from Africa. The base has a single 1/16" wide slot that is 1/2" deep for reed insertion. The base is heavy and weighs 4 lbs. A clear finish or oil finish is desired to bring out the natural colors of the various wood types. The base also comes with a 3/16" drilled center hole.
